Be honest. You thought we had no good answer to that. Alright, "good" may be an overstatement. Here's a wordy one.
Why B L O W (excluding rants on the state of art)? 1. Entertainment in the written form, that’s the best reason. It’s available; 2. Necessity, as well. There needs to be an affordable way to access this material; 3. Surprise. Which is enough, when it’s thunderous; and, 4. A market gap, in the US and the UK. There was no B L O W. Now there is.
Why Not B L O W? 1. Not to educate. Except insofar as good stories, verse, and commentary can edify; 2. Not to innovate. We’ve seen so little of what’s already out there; 3. Not philanthropy. We can’t afford it. B L O W will cost, but only pocket change; 4. Not to be contrary. We’re not here for the struggle. 5. Not necessarily as conformists. Though we’re unsure what that entails nowadays; 6. Not always to be funny. Because some stuff just isn’t; but surely, 7. Not as revolutionaries. Unless the revolution makes for good reading.
So, B L O W- Thirty, maybe forty-five minutes of satisfying entertainment for a dollar. 60p in the UK, because the printing costs more. Still a better deal than the cinema, less than a pint of beer, and all in a paper you won’t mind giving to a stranger when you’re done. It makes a lot of sense. That’s the only thing going against us. If you like the idea, we could really use your support. If you don't, but still feel like talking to somebody about it, please feel free.
